About

A home journal from the Hill Country.

Rooms styled the way a table is set. Photographed, numbered, and kept honest.

Elizabeth Dane Home post: Warm Fall Coffee Table Styling, a rustic coffee table with a stoneware vase of oak branches, a brass bowl, a candle, and a dough bowl of pumpkins by the fire

I am Elizabeth. I live in a limestone house in the Texas Hill Country, and I have been styling its surfaces for longer than I have been photographing them.

The photos started as a way to remember what worked. Then people started asking where the vase came from, and the bowl, and the branches. Answering one message at a time was not sustainable, so I built this: a journal where every photo is a real room and every piece in it can be found.

I keep the palette small. Olive, rust, cream, brass. Stoneware, linen, wood. Most of what you will see I have owned for years, and the new things have to earn their place next to them. A room should work on a Tuesday morning, not just in the picture.

The Hill Country note

Limestone, live oak, long tables.

This part of Texas does not do fussy. The houses are stone and the light is hard, so the things inside have to be simple enough to hold their own: a bowl with some weight to it, a wreath that dries well, iron that gets better as it ages.

That is the whole aesthetic, really. Warm without being crowded. Seasonal without a store-bought feel. If a piece would look right on a long table with twelve chairs and a screen door open, it belongs here.

Leave room for a coffee cup. If you cannot set a mug down without moving something, take one piece away.

Why shop here

Three honest reasons.

  1. 01

Every piece has been in a real room

Nothing here is a mood board. If it is on the site, it has sat on my shelf, my table or my mantel long enough for me to have an opinion about it.

  2. 02

The photo is the product page

You see the piece next to the things it lives with, at the scale it actually is. The numbered markers are there so you never have to guess which vase.

  3. 03

You check out on Amazon today; that will change

For now, your order, shipping and returns all happen with Amazon, on your own account, with their protection. We may earn a small commission when you buy through our links. The plan is to bring checkout home. Until then, we would rather say so plainly than pretend otherwise.

From Elizabeth

Thank you for being here. Start with a look, add what you like, and take your time. The rooms will still be here tomorrow.
